Pablo goes to work

I’d be lying if I said there weren’t days when I get totally frustrated with Rob.  (Light switches have an “off” setting, sweetie.  Just sayin’.)  But for every grumbled swear that escapes my lips, there are a dozen moments when I’m reminded why it is I like him so much.

On Tuesday, as Rob was mired in his daily struggle to get out the door within a half-hour of on time, Kaylee stopped him and asked him to take Pablo – a stuffed toy from “The Backyardigans” – to work with him.  He put Pablo in his lunch bag, and as he hurried around gathering car keys, wallet and cell phone, Kaylee added a tiny plastic Uniqua (also from “The Backyardigans”) and a plastic Blue (from “Blue’s Clues”) to the mix.

Half an hour later, I started getting e-mails with photos attached, and they continued throughout the day.  Here they are, with captions:

Pablo and Optimash Prime discuss their three-day weekend. Pablo and Optimash Prime discuss their three-day weekend.

Pablo, Uniqua and Blue the intern are hard at work. Pablo, Uniqua and Blue the intern are hard at work.

Lunch time! Lunch time!

Pablo works on his daily paperwork. Pablo works on his daily paperwork.

You probably can't read what's written on the notepad, so here's what it says:
TPS Report

1. Explored the universe with Blue and Uniqua

2. Filed bug report for Optimash

3. Snack & nap

4. Story time

Uniqua has a headache. Uniqua has a headache.

Headed home! Headed home!

Kaylee was, of course, thrilled.

Awesome. And I think you should use that as a new idea for a blog! :)

I was one of those guys who, at 16, could fully picture my life with the picket fence, the kids, the cardigan sweater, etc. I always thought I'd make the world's best dad.

Flash-forward almost 30 years: No kids, and I turned out to be a cranky bastard. But still secretly thought I'd make a great dad.

And then I see shit like this and realize I wouldn't even be in the same league as guys like Rob. Well done!

I think at long last Rob has topped the gout foot! (That was in no way poking fun at your current gout pain, Greg. It was a while ago. Did you post that here, Heather?)

It'd be cool to show toys doing more interesting stuff, too. "Here's Barney performing surgery!"

I dunno, I think kids bring out the silly in people. You might have found yourself doing stuff like this, too.
